Balenciaga Papier Dupe

So, about three weeks ago I was out and about minding my own beeswax, having a nice Sunday brunch, as you do. After having stuffed several almond croissants in my gob I got up to leave and the sheer horror of what happened next is almost too traumatic to convey. My beloved. My baby. My Miu Miu had died. The handle had only gone and busticated itself. I was devz, to say the least. It was completely unusable and I knew it would have to be in rehab for a while to get fixed-up. Instantly my thoughts turned to a replacement. (Natch). First I toyed with the Givenchy Antigona Shopper. What's not to like, right? Then I thought I better come down a price point or two seeing as I only needed a temp, as such. So I contemplated this Zadig and Voltaire beaut. But what I really wanted was My Moo Moo back, all nice and mended, and then to think about a non-shopper type bag as a possible BDay prezzie. (Operation Drop Unsubtle Hints already well in action). On the wish-list are: a small Lucrezia, a medium Betty or a small Sac de Jour. A Mansur Gavriel Bucket Bag, the eternal forever wantie a Celine Box Bag (no links, soz, Phoebe doesn't allow it!), or maybe just maybe a Va Va Voom. With all this swirling round my tiny mind I wandered into Zara- as all impoverished fashonistas do- for a reality-check and a quick fix. And there it was, an easy-peasy chirpy cheap-cheap solution to my bagless status. This really rather good (AKA affordable) shopper. It deffo puts me in mind of the Balenciaga Papier. Funnily enough- despite being a hardcore handbag addict- I've never actually lusted after one of these beauts before. But having lugged this Zara around for a week or so now, I'm starting to think this could be just the darling I'd like to find that Santa has bought me for my birthday. Hear me now Santa/Wishlist Gods/Mum and Dad :) Yours Sincerely, A Very Greedy Girl.
PS Chloe....I ran outta time and energy to do a Rare London post last night...this one was prepped at the weekend (swot alert!). Got everything crossed you win though :)

Sweat The Small Stuff

If you're anything like me, then assembling an OOTD goes something as follows: drag hauls out of bags (all creased); rummage through current crop of clothes (also creased); fling all potential outfit items onto bed; panic; think 'I can't wear that I wore it last week'; panic summore; grab something, anything (whilst camera battery is still charging); tell yourself to 'Hurry Up You Div'; end up putting some rubbish outfit together; trot outside lugging tripod, changes of hats and various assorted items and try and shoot before it rains/gets too sunny/gets dark. Sound familiar? Please tell me I'm not the only one :) And so this is why I'm wearing a textured sweatshirt with a zippy detail pleather skirt. Whilst it doesn't exactly not go, it doesn't exactly go either. If I had another chance, I'd put it together in a bit more of a Saint Laurenty way. (She said). Hope all is good in your world, catch you soon xx

Good Advice

I'm a teeny bit obsessed with Alex Wang right now. *No Shit Sherlock Face* I read an article about him recently, and it struck me that his whole attitude going into his new job at Balenciaga was just spot-on. He's got total respect for the house and everyone that works there. Unlike a certain Hedi Slimane who has gone into YSL (I still call it YSL, so there) all guns blazing, changing everything and anything he can (including the freakin' name of the label). Anyhoo, it's probably time to stop ranting, and move onto this outfit :) I was actually quite surprised to see Alex W reviving the whole 'Parental Advisory' thing for his own label, as I thought it was welllll last year, and a bit dead in the water, to be honest. But he's given it a lovely fresh twizzle for S/S 14 (as seen on Georgia Jagger), so feeling inspired, I thought I'd dig-out my old sweatshirt and give it another spin. Much love, catch you soon xx
PS Check out this cray doggie that ran through my frame. He's a ledge!

Inspo//Repro

When I first saw this Gwen Stefani cover shoot I was awestruck. I knew straight away I wanted to do my own lil' version of this incredible Saint Laurent outfit, but I was lacking a suitable sparkly jacket. I just happened to be scouting about in H&M last weekend when....Holy Mary Mother Of Dupes...I stumbled upon this sequined doll and I knew it was time to try and get my Gwen on. I'd also been looking for a decent version of the chiffon scarf as well, but my searching left me empty-handed on that score, so I resorted to my usual DIY necktie. I probably look like one helluva div sat there on my floor trying to measure up to the goddess that is Gwen, but sometimes you just think to yourself "Take a chance you stupid ho". (See what I did there). By the way, just a quick word on Hedi Slimane, while we're here. Now this probably makes no sense in the context of me trying to recreate one of his outfits, but I do have issues with him renaming YSL. Did Marc Jacobs try and rename Louis Vuitton when he went there? He did not. Did Alexander Wang try and rename Balenciaga? Nope, him neither. The breathtaking arrogance of the guy is unreal. And, for my money his A/W 13 collection was definitely one of the worst shows of the season. Styling is not designing. (Still love this collection though!) Ok, rant over :) xx
