The Perfect Grey Culottes

I'd been desperately searching for some grey culottes when a very fortuitous email came my way from Zelle Studio, and before too long these amazing wide-leg knitted trousers were in my life and on my legs. I'm on the stumpy side (at 5ft 5) so I rolled over the waist-band to get a nice ankle-gap situation happening, (but if you like a higher waist/are a touch taller/prefer a baggy top then you're laughing). The fabric is a nice substantial knit, and there's also a stunning pleated-detail woven in. I've also gotta give props to this darling pink bomber jacket which I heart with anything grey, and is deffo gonna be a useful cover-up all S/S on those inevitable cooler days. (Not too many, let's hope, *prayer hands*). Hit me up with your culottes thoughts, catch you soon x

Zara Navy Culottes

I've got a confession. Here goes. I'm a serial Leaver-In-Bag of clothes. Whenever I buy something I let it rest a while in its little carrier bag. Whilst I recognize this is actually one a of key signifiers of being a shopaholic (face, bothered) I also know there's logic there somewhere. Hear me now! 1) I never know if I wanna take something back. I always find I need to try on and try on again until I'm sure it's a keeper. Particularly given that so many store mirrors make you look thinner than you actually are. (H&M I'm looking at you- looking at me). 2) I like to separate 'old' and 'new'. All the old shit I'm bored of is stuffed into my wardrobe. And the new lovely amaze things are stuffed into bags scattered all over the floor. Somehow that system is 'cleaner' to me. And 3) The aforementioned wardrobe is literally so rammed that there's actually not room for owt new. (I'd start a Tictail and or a Depop...if only there were time). So, these culottes then (which oddly Zara are calling a skort- 2013 alert!). They're new and therefore very very creased. Coz- guess what?- they've been left in a bag. Wow, they really are messed-up. But imagine how cute they'd be without the wrinkles in 'em? Exactly. They've got this incred spilt leg detail which I'm sadly unable to bring you photographic evidence of due to the highly repulsive state of my legs. Next two purchases in the offing: fake tan and a steamer. Catch you soon xx

The Shape Of Things To Come

You know when you're just bursting to chat about your new hauls and how much in love with them you are? That's me that is. So let us begin. 1) This top is everything. The very second I saw it I knew I had to have it. (Despite it being- gasp- colour. And, well, yeah, short-sleeved too). I was gonna layer a skinny grey polo neck underneath (for a nice retro vibe) but I didn't find one in time (and consequently froze to bits shooting this look). 2) These culottes are also everything. They kinda kick-out, some might say- almost balloon- and I will consequently have to brace myself for a slew of mocking comments from my dad. *Fortitude Face* 3) This coat is old so we don't need to discuss it. So anyroad, these purchases were from my first haul of 2015. I hadn't been shopping in a while coz I've felt so ill (it's amazing just how much your eyes can hurt) and although I experienced burning pain throughout my whole shopathon, it was worth it. I also found a sick two-piece in H&M which you may well have seen on my IG. And just to mention- no shoot is complete without #BloggerProblems is it? Basically- neither this top, nor these trews took good pics, at all. (I know I know- you didn't need me to point out the bleedin' obvious). The top creased and moved and annoyed me greatly. The pants also creased to bits and the fabric is so thin that the outline of my hands was irritatingly clear in every shot where I put them in my pockets. (See Fig.8). And thennnn- NYFW started- and the Frame Denim show happened. If you didn't see it (which I'm sure you did) the unbelievable on-pointness of the clothes was a sight to behold. I love it when there's a sea change in fashion- and although this moment has been building for a while (see Gucci SS15)- a full-on 70s revival is happening right freakin' now- and lil ole' scuba tops & baggy culottes & sneaks all seem very over. Essentially, I feel like a dick and want to live in New York in 1976 and star in a Woody Allen film. Catch you soon (hopefully in flares) xx

Burgundy Blues

You know when you shoot a look and your face looks uglier than a very ugly thing, in like, every freaking frame? Well, this happens to me most weeks. But when I snapped these shamazing culottes, the visage was looking even worse than usual, so I've basically had to chop my head off in most of these pics. I'd apologize, but I'm sure you're as relieved as I am :) So, back to the culottes. They are sick. And we deffo don't want no minging face detracting from their incred, inherent beautness. I also took my Man Gav out to shoot for the first time- I was getting myself in a right tizz that I'd wreck it- as trying to take photos is always treacherous in terms of- scratching stuff, breaking stuff, dropping stuff, losing stuff. You name it, it goes wrong. And finally, I have to give bare props to my new Catarzi fedora. These hats are simply the bomb dot com. Catch you soon xx

Beyond The Sea

So, yeah, this look is a touch riviera, but that's no bad thing, right?  I can't seem to put down a culotte at the minute or indeed, most things French. (Have you tried the scone in Le Pain Quotidien? It's so off the chain, I just can't). This particular pair of culottes had me at 'bonjour'. They actually come up a little tight and are very much on the high waisted side, but they are well worth a bit of squishing. Get yours here. My sweater is a naughty little Cos purchase. I just die in there, don't you? The men shopping in there are particularly amusing- they're just such fashion geeks. You know- the ones who shop in Liberty and are just so perfectly so. For the record men into fashion do nowt for me- I prefer straight-up ruffnecks and hood rats- but that's a whole 'nother story. Anyroad. These pictures- or indeed my chubby lil' self- do this beaut of a jumper no justice whatsoever. The feel of the fabric is heavenly, as is the cut. I can't actually find it on the website but this is priddy amaze, and I deffo wanna get this too. Catch you soon xx

Revolutionary Road

So, I've finally got myself a proper pair of culottes and very happy I am with 'em too :) They just pull on easy peasy stylie, they're nice and silky, and most importantly-nice and cheap. Get yours here. I'm also giving my first outing to my new So In Fashion Sunnies which I love adore and worship like a MOFO. They are wayyyy similar to some much more expensive ones flying about at the minute cough cough. Hope you had a ledge weekend, catch you soon xx

Vive La Revolution

I thought I had my culotte game on lockdown when I bought these 'uns from H&M back in March. (With a voucher, obvs). Well, silly billy that I am, I had no such thing. What I had in fact bought was a pair of cropped trousers that didn't fit and crease like a bitch. So, I'm now on the lookout for a proper pair of culottes- a bit more cropped, in a decent fabric with a nice bit of swing to 'em. Summat like these Asos ones, or these lush Whistles ones. Oh and these Toppers ones are fairly ledge too. Have you jumped on the culotte hype this season? Lemmie know xx
PS Although this look appears to be monochrome my tee and skaters are in fact pink. (Or shall we go a bit fashion and call them 'blush'?). However, due to my rubbish photography skillz there's no hint of pink to be had. Please take this into account when viewing this item. Many Thanks, Yours, A Shit Photgrapher.
