7 Things Instagram Has Taught Me

I'm still a relative newbie on Instagram. It's been a baptism of fire, fo shizz. I have to confess I find it fascinating and horrifying in equal measure. (My pictures: horrifying, everyone else's: fascinating). Certain things seem to 'work' on there, and certain things don't. Let's have a heated debate about these very tingz. 

Face Versus Feet

My feet are slightly popular- my face- not so much. I've actually discussed this with my blogger buddy Mission Style (her IG is here), and she experiences the same thing. I guess if you're a supermodel the reverse is probably true. But for us mere mortals, the plates of meat seem to win, feet down. Which is, er, handy (or maybe feety) for those of us with a lorra lorra shoes.

Most People Will UnFollow You

Yes, they are all bastards. And why do spammers have endless pictures of realllly disgusting plates of food on their accounts? As with everything in life, competitiveness rules. Hate that.

You Have To Show The World Your Stuff

The hauls, the purchases, the new-ins, the same freaking shoes that everyone's got from Zara. This is the shit you gotta post. And you've gotta post it nicely, in a flatlay, with lots of light. Ain't nobody got time for a dark picture. 

Tagging Things Doesn't Help

Tapping for tags is a complete waste of time because people will still ask you where your stuff is from. Endlessly. Even when somebody has asked you where your skirt is from, and you've told them, someone else will then ask the very same question. Are their eyes sewn on? It's entirely possible.

Shouting Out Is A Thing, A Very Big Thing

Now call me old-fashioned, or just a completely contrary dick, but when someone tells me to do something, I generally do the exact opposite. I don't like being told what to do. Do you? So why the sweet baby Jesus does SFSing work? I have no freaking idea. But on Instagram- which has its very own ecosystem and everything- if someone says 'Follow this person, they're great!' loads of people do just that. Weird innit? And I'm very guilty as charged. The lure is strong. (Not to do the following thing, but to do the shout-out thing).

Nobody But Directioners Like One Direction

I'm a Directioner Til I Die. I ship everyone with everyone. And yep, I do realise the whole of the Tinternetz is full of 1D related shizzle (thankfully), so I'm grudgingly having to accept that fellow fashion bloggers mostly don't wanna see endless pictures of The Boy Styles. Or me in my endless selection of Harry t-shirts. But this is my blog, and I'll cry if I want to, so here he is from a while back. (Can't believe how short his hair is and how few scribbles he's got!)

Skinny And Pretty Wins Every Time

Life is not really that different from IG. If you're cool in real life, you'll be cool on there. If you're thin and pretty, you'll be thin and pretty on there. Sure, there's filters and all that shit, but the real you always shows through. You just leak out, whether you like it or not. I could post a piccie here of me trying to be thin and pretty, or an actual thin and pretty person to illustrate my point. But instead I'm going to show you my new Mansur Gavriel bag which I heart like a MOFO (I actually only managed to get my hands on one of these beauts because of Instagram....there I was idly browsing my feed....only to see the Man-Gav girls announce that their very own website had gone live selling yer actual bags not half an hour since. The rest is history). And just for larks, here's my newish pony slides which I also heart nearly as much as Calum 5SOS. What are your IG experiences thus far? Kinda Shady

When I bought this hat last Saturday I was instantly thrown into a styling meltdown. Do you ever start to try and construct a mental lookbook in your head the minute you haul something new? That 'Ooooh, I love what I just bought' seretonin buzz in my brain no doubt contributes to the gormless look I have on my face most of the time when shopping. Well, that's my excuse :) By the time I'd wandered from Oxford Street over to Pret on Cavendish Square to grab a Diet Coke *Standard Face* I'd decided to style-up an all grey outfit to go with my new purchase. This is how it turned out :) I can only apologise for my creased jumper and the general feeling that you've seen all these pieces before (you have). Catch you soon chicas xx

Tote Amaze

I've been meaning to do a 'What's In My Handbag' post forever, and as a result of the relentless rain making it impossible to shoot outside this week, that post has finally arrived :) The question is.....why is poking your nose into someone's bag so ludicrously fascinating? I have zero clue. All I know is these posts are basically my favourite in the whole freaking blogosphere. So let's get stuck in.

1.Miu Miu  

Everything and more fits in this beaut shopper. I heart it to infinity and beyond.

2.Nars

Pressed Powder is a life-saver. I'm forever having to deshine (ugggh) and this is the best.

3.Benefit 

Dandelion Lipgloss is a bit of pale pink heaven. This mini size was actually a freebie, which makes me love it even more :)

4.Chanel 

Blue Boy is probably my fave nail polish of all-time. And you never know when a chip (diddy chip) is gonna make an appearance, do you?

5.My Boys 

Never go anywhere without them. Fact. How sick is this whole album? And yes, I do actually still buy CDs. I know, I'm like, some sort of major weirdo. #1D #Ziam

6.Fracas 

Almost too perfect to describe. It's so heady and divine. If you like gardenia, and you like tuberose you'll love this. Plus this little handy rollerball is totes portable. Winning.

7.Some Rings

8.L'Occitane 

Fleur Cherie Handcream is beautifully floral and orange blossomy. And it's super rich for dry skinned bitches such as I.

9.RayBan 

Wayfarers. Don't really need to say much do I? These are literally your forever sunglasses.

10.Company 

is generally sick. But it's like realllly sick this month. They've gone a bit French. I just gobbled it up in one sitting. Tres Bon. 

Little White Lies

So, I might've told a teeny little porky pie about sticking my legs under wraps until next year. But putting tights with this beautiful skirt would have been a fashion travesty, non? Like some sort of crazed Phoebe Philo groupie, I just keep returning to Celine's A/W 13 collection for inspo. I.Just.Can't.Put.It.Down. The Story Of My Life

We need a drumroll here.....coz....the tights are on. They're on, I'm done, stick a fork in me. Ain't nobody need to be seeing my nasty milk bottle legs for a moment longer, so they are away now, and let's be grateful for that :) I actually have the worst love-hate thing with tights, don't you? I mean, they just couldn't be nicer to wear, and they deffo always make me feel thinner. But they also kinda ruin most outfits. I've seen a few bloggers do a knee sock over a sheer denier tight, so I might try that in the near future. Anyhoo, I'm kinda living in this Gap poloneck at the minute, and it's ridonk cheap, so hit it up, I say. And this Zara check pleated mini is really easy to wear as it's got a slightly slouchy shape. PS Girls- gotta ask a massive favour- if you ever hear me say 'I really like a boy' or 'I'm going on a date' please please please take the following steps:- 1) Slap me, 2) Tell me to wise-up and 3) Remind me that all men are vile evil hypocritical egotists. Of course, there are benefits to being knocked-back by two dates in one week (is that a Guinness World Record? Probably).......namely- 1D Day. I got to watch it instead of going-a-dating. I cringed when they lied to Piers Morgan about everything. Bonnie And Clyde

Don't me and my boyfriend coat look happy together? It was love at first sight :) Here's the story of how we met......

So, a few weeks back, shockingly, I happened to win 'Star Style Of The Week' on Today I'm Wearing. Tripping to infintity and beyond doesn't even begin to describe how excited I was. Mostly, you know, for the props...but also coz I won £100 worth of Topshop vouchers :) How can anything be more incred than that? (With the possible exception of going to see 1D at Wembley next year). It can't, you're right. So, after some minor trials and tribulations at TIW HQ, the lovely letter containing the vouchers finally arrived at my flat. (What is it with people that say 'apartment'?). Or rather.....the card to say the vouchers were down at the Post Office sorting office arrived. Oh postie, you big tease. 

So, off I went.....and there, in front of me in the queue was that dastardly love-rat Tom Ellis. Y'know- the one who cheated on his wifey Tamzin Outhwaite recently. He was terribly tall and really quite fit. Just sayin'. Anyroad....buzz, buzz, buzzin' was I to finally be able to go shopping with my loaded card. Except. I've been so so so ill these last few weeks I really haven't been able to do much of anything. Mostly I'm scared of fainting. Not a good look on Oxford Street, to be fair. But fashion avarice spurred me on do a very quick shop one night last week.....and I am now the proud owner of the Best.Coat.Ever. God only knows there are a gazillion shamazeballs coats out there this season, but this one is definitively IT. You've probably seen it in Toppers, but I really can't recommend it enough. Get yours here. Have a lush weekend, I'm off for a brain scan on Monday......hopefully they'll find one :)

Fly Girl

Where Rihanna leads, I like to follow. (Not in chasing around after violent, arrogant, unrepentant, vile, ex boyfriends- but sartorially- I mean). So when I clocked her working a boilersuit, I thought "I'll give it whirl". Now, I might've gone a touch literal here- as my look has turned out a tiny bit more Top Gun/Neighbours-Era-Kylie than it perhaps should've. (A heel may well have sorted that). But I thought I'd just throw these piccies out there anyway :) This jumpsuit is actually ridiculously comfy, and it also comes in a playsuit version (which you might've seen Hugo off MIC's bird Nat-Jo wearing in this week's Hello!). P.S. 'This Is Us' was too too good. So good I'm going to see it again, in fact! There's no real revelations, and no searing insights (other than Zayn actually can speak!) but I happened to be there that night at the O2, so it's very spesh, and I wanna relive it a few times more! (So I will).

Over Again

I wasn't sure what would go with this floral print mini at first, so I thought I'd try my leather jacket and I was priddy pleased with the way it turned out :) Yes, I'm even tying my new jacket round my waist! I may have to check into Waist Tie Rehab shortly. I've also managed to haul two (count 'em) new hats. Big. Sigh.Of.Relief. I am so bored of my old fedora it's untrue. I know, I know- this one looks exactly like the old one! Ha! It's not squashed to bits though.....it's a key difference :)  So, how are your weekend plans shaping up? I'm finally going to see This Is Us on Saturday (after a bit of an over-excited false start last weekend). Bring.It.On.Mr.Spurlock. This sweatshirt is a little piece of heaven. It's one of those ones that's super soft and fluffy inside and has also got the perfect shape. And whilst the whole Homies/Hermes mash-up thingy has been done to death, I thought this one looked a bit fresher with a nice 80s feel to it :) Get yours here. I couldn't decide which shoes went best, so I shot it with heels and flats, so lemmie know your thoughts on that one! (Yes, I do go out onto the street with two pairs of shoes, two hats and about seven pairs of sunnies...well....you never know what's gonna look sharp in a piccie do you?) Daydream In Blue

Dungarees don't seem to be dying any kind of death this summer, so yay for that, coz I.Love.Them. I've already bought some black ones (comme ca) and some acid-wash ones (like so) but when I saw this dress in Primark I decided to keep the dunga-bandwagon rolling. Everything about this babe is perfect (except- the straps are a lil' bit temperamental- much like their new owner!) I've kept things a bit bare here with just one of my go-to Primark bra-tops underneath- but it seems to work with most things I throw on. Big In Japan

I'd been searching for a kimono for a while when I stumbled across this hottie in Primark. Most of the others out there- whilst stunning- are wayyyy to pricey for me to justify a purchase. It's not long and flowy, or covered in tassles, but it's deffo a lil' beaut. However, if your budget does allow it, then these are all heavenly. Annnnd.....it's been a while since I've mentioned my boys, 1D, but I just gotta give props to Best Song Ever. Insane video, Marcel is to die :) Laters Lovelies xx

Jack Your Body

You'll probably have seen loads of these JD vest tops around and about recently, but this one from OMG Fashion is super cheap, a really good shape and does the job nicely :) In Topshop I saw a similar one for £20 (in amongst the 'Tea & Cake' stuff) so if you're looking for an alternative nice and easy-on-the-purse fashion fix then deffo consider this one.
