Has Adidas Eaten Itself?

Ever felt like going on safari? (Sartorially, that is). Well Adidas are here to help. They've branched out. Into animal-print. I refer of course, (the clue's in the picture) to the zebra print Stan Smith. (There's also leopard for the fleet of foot). So, I love them, right? Actually, not so much. In fact, not at all. Am I having some sort of mental breakdown? Quite possibly. Not to get all sneaker purist about this shit, but some things shouldn't be messed with. I believe these kicks to be one of those things. There's no doubt Stan Smiths have reached critical mass. Are they over? Possibly. Maybe. Who knows? I think I even saw Robin Van Persie in a pair the other day, which disturbed me greatly, and may indeed signal the death knell. Meanwhile, over at Man Repeller (yes, her again, I'm not obsessed...much) an interesting post appeared recently about the Adidasification of Isabel Marant. Now, there's no chicken-and-egg discussion required here. Adidas were first. Very much so. But actually, does that even matter in this case? As Leandra pointed out Isabel has a tremendous knack of making everything cool and desirable. In fact, it's a pretty remarkable achievement to take a trainer that costs £65, copy it slavishly and then charge £260 for the reworking- AKA The Bart. So do I hate Barts too? No man, I do not. I'm a complete Marantphile, as it goes. She can do no wrong. For me the issue is- should Adidas be responding to all this? Annnnd....that's a no from me. They shouldn't mess with perfection. It feels wrong. Kinda watered down and uncool and uniconic. Am I a contradictory bastard? Absolutely, given that I realllly like Pharrell's Stans. At which point it might be salient to say that sometimes a kick feels right, and sometimes a kick feels wrong. And I'm absolutely sure Adidas want advice from me on this issue :) You feeling the animal-vibe? Or do you wanna join me in Purist's Corner? Lemmie know x

Snow White

White is always a good idea. In theory. But let's face it, life is a messy business, and blogging even more so. When I plucked this jumper off the rail in H&M it already had a big black smudge on the front, but I decided to try it anyway as it was the last size small. Then when I did slip it on, I got make-up on the neck. Oops. Normally I'd be a right bastard and pop it back on the rack and search for a foundationless one, but again, the lack of sizes available prevented this naughtiness. (Now you know why every top in Zara has got a big orange mark across the neck. Soz). Then when I went out to shoot, a wonderful mixture of mud and leaves seemed to magically attach themselves to me at every turn. Plus, my Stans are ruined too. They are practically dead to me now. I need some box-freshness in my life. Maybe some red Mr Smiths next? Or maybe some Isabel Barts? Anyroad, outfit shot, and mud scraped off, I then realised that the camera no likey white. Not.At.All. Every single frame was an overexposed mess. (There's a joke here somewhere). Which is a shame, coz, if you can see any detailing- you'll notice this jumper has actually got it going on. There's a side-split, there some very good slouchiness and it's actually a cotton-knit, which- drumroll/deepbreath/cliché approaching at 3 o'clock- will transition nicely into SS15. (Can't find it on H&M's website- obvs- but this is quite good). Have you dared to embrace white this season?

Hot Or Knot

You can't have failed to notice that knots are everywhere this season. And I don't just mean in my hair. My good blogger buddy Mission Style absolutely smashed it when she put this look together a few weeks back, so I thought I'd give it a whirl myself. Few words of warning though: 1) Don't attempt to double layer your knits and jump on the knot hype if the weather is above twelve degrees. You will boil. 2) Don't attempt this look if you like breathing. It's fairly impossible. 3) Don't tie your jumper like a complete div, as I have done, in the style of a baby's bib. Not chic. Make sure it's in more of a sideways situation and 4) Don't attempt knitted legginz unless you are feeling big love for Nora Batty, as they will go baggy, and make you look fatter than you are. Excuses, excuses. So, pieces-wise Zara are now doing these here leggings in dark grey, which I think we can all agree are fairly sick. Also, my fedora now comes in black, which I need need need like the stupid shopalholicky MOFO that I am. The skinny knit is now only available in the mustard as you probably know, and this is my basic-bitch-jumper-cum-bib knit, but this is also a ledge shape, is it (k)not? Catch you soon xx

Blue Monday

Last year I had a little phase with pinstripes and, whaddya know, I'm still feeling 'em this year. I picked up this beaut pair of trews in Zara (where else) a few weeks ago, and I'm super happy I did. (These aren't they, but they're mightily similar. Actually, they could be them. Arrrgghh. Soz, brain-fry). Looking back at these pics now, I think I need a wayyy more oversized jumper with this outfit. Summink...like...this. Any pinstripe thoughts? Hit me up :) xx
PS Yeah, that is me. Without.Sunnies.On. Thought I'd try it. Majeur apologies about the face.
PPS That leaf though.

The Wool Pack

These knitted pants are without a doubt the biggest blogger must-have of the season. So hot are they, that they're almost over. But if you were gonna wear something over in auld Social Siberia, then I'd recommend these. Coz you will not need a coat, gloves or a bowl of Ready Brek all winter long in 'em. (Am I making any sense? No? Ok, good). Also, after having shot these pics I now realise why the best thing to wear with these Woolly McPants is the matchy matchy skinny knit that goes with them. Basically, we're talking coverage. Coverage of the bit of camel that resides in the foot area. Otherwise we be seeing all sorts of tingz we don't wanna. (Half of the photos I shot for this look had to be discarded coz it looked like I had two strings coming out my va-jay-jay. Right. Sorry. TMI). I threw on this sweatshirt trying to be all inventive and shit, but it dint really work. And if you're thinking 'She looks like she rolled outta bed in her PJs' I can only agree. Laterz chicks xx

How Now

Brown leather. The very words strike fear into my heart. There's just...a certain...ickyness there. What could possibly be worse than brown leather? Brown pleather, that's what. But, yep, here I am in some brown pleather pants. Doubtless you'll have clocked a lorra lorra magazines heralding an AW season of brown and mahogany and ochre and rust and tan, so we nero-philes better get used to it. Ideally, I'd have shot this look with a nice oversized oatmeal jumper. But a) it's still 20 degrees, and b) I haven't found quite the right beige sweater for the job yet. (Is anyone else having similar Zara problems to me? In I go "Ooooh I freaking love that oversized jumper so I do">>rushes to changing room>>"Shit, it looks like a dress"?) In retrospect, this white vest clearly does not remotely go with this outfit, but as usual I was in massive hurry and just grabbed what was on top of the t-shirt pile. Grey and black accessories probably don't really go either, but, you know, I'm a seriously rubbish blogger and maybe a tiny clash is a good thing? Laterz chicas xx

Bag Lady

I've always wanted one of these American Apparel pouches, so when a cheeky little voucher came my way, I decided to hot foot it down to Carnaby Street and grab myself a bit of the action. In my head I was saying 'Get a colour! Go wild! Live a little!', so naturally I ended up buying black :) Expect to see this little beaut in a lorra lorra shoots in the near future. Catch you soon xx
PS If you're looking for something fun and fashionable to do this weekend then look no further than the London Fashion Festival. Me and my gorge blogger buddy Mission Style will be down there. Grab a last minute ticket and come say hi :))

Mr and Mrs Smith

So, finally, a couple of weeks back I managed to find some Stan Smiths in a Size 5. Let's have a partay! I've been wearing them to death (obvs), but as is the way with me, I've now got my eye on some Air Force 1s. Can I possibly justify having three pairs of white sneaks? (Bank Manager: Hell To The No). I also recently picked up this little Breton dress in Zara. Talk about easy peasy breezy Summer wear. Heaven innit :) I couldn't resist these sunnies in And Other Stories either. That place just blows my mind in so many ways.
(Cheaper than Topshop sunnies too. Just sayin'). What new season purchases have you been making recently? Lemmie know :) xx
